A free AI readiness assessment. # How ready is your company for AI? Most companies have AI tools by now. Fewer have changed how the work gets done. Answer sixteen questions, in about seven minutes, to see where you are on the path from AI-absent to AI-native, and whether the basics are in place to support it. No sign-up: your answers stay in your browser. ## How the check-up works It asks how far AI went over the last month in four areas of your company: - **Core work**, the things you make or deliver - **Sales, marketing and support** - **Finance, people and admin** - **Reporting, planning and decisions** We place each area at one of five levels: AI isn't part of the work, it helps people, it does some steps, it runs the workflow, or it runs and improves the workflow. A workflow is a piece of work your company does again and again, like handling a new order or closing the month. If you say AI runs the workflow in an area, we ask one more question: has it run that way in normal use in the last month? If not, we place that area at "does some steps". Twelve more questions check your foundations, the basics that let AI take on more: - how many of your people who work mostly at a computer use AI every week - who is in charge of AI, and whether money and time are set aside for it - what AI knows about your business, and whether that's kept up to date - how AI reaches your software and data, and whether you can limit what it opens - how AI's work is checked - how you measure the difference it makes - what rules you have, and whether you could cap AI's spending or switch it off - whether any workflow now runs differently Each level needs its own basics in place, and all of them, so one strength can't make up for a missing one: - **Does some steps:** AI has your documents, someone else checks its work, and you have a written policy. - **Runs the workflow:** someone is in charge, AI reaches your systems through links you've approved, you can switch it off, and a workflow already runs differently. - **Runs and improves the workflow:** the top answer on everything that keeps it safe and honest, including measuring each workflow against how it ran before. We place each area at the level its foundations support. "I don't know" counts as not yet in place, and the result says so. If two answers don't fit together, we ask about them before showing your result. It's a short form of the method we use when we assess a team. The check-up runs in your browser and doesn't store or send your answers. If AI already does some steps in one area, you're close to AI-enabled. - **AI-enabled:** in at least one area, AI runs a workflow, with your people making the key decisions. - **AI-native:** AI runs the workflow in your core work and in sales, marketing and support, and does at least some steps everywhere else. ## A worked example A firm says AI does some steps in its core work and in support, helps people in finance, and isn't part of management reporting. But AI only knows what someone pastes in, each person checks their own AI work, some keen people lead it with nobody in charge, and nothing is measured. That's enough for "helps people" but not "does some steps", so two areas sit lower than claimed. The result is AI-absent. Give AI the documents it needs and have someone else check its work. Both areas then count at "does some steps", and the firm is close to AI-enabled. ## What the check-up leaves out It's a quick read, not an audit. It takes your answers at face value, uses the same foundations as evidence for every area, and doesn't look at your systems, data or people. Bring your result to a working session and we'll test it on one of your real workflows. ## Questions about AI readiness ### How do I know if my company is ready for AI? Look at whether the work has changed, not whether people have tools. Pick one regular workflow and ask how far AI goes in it: does it help people, do some steps by itself, or run the workflow with people making the key decisions? Then check the foundations: someone in charge, AI that knows your business, a way to check its work, and a way to measure the difference it makes. [Take the check-up](https://spliceops.lrgfrmt.com/tools/ai-check-up). ### What's the difference between AI-enabled and AI-native? AI-enabled means at least one critical workflow is started and run by AI agents, with your people making the key decisions. AI-native means that's how the company runs: agents run the workflows that run your business. ### Why ask about foundations as well as AI use? Because a claim needs something to hold it up. If AI runs a workflow but nobody is in charge of it and nothing is measured, the workflow is hard to trust and hard to improve. Each level needs its own basics in place, and the check-up places each area at the level its foundations support, not the one you claim. ### What should we fix first? The foundation that holds you back most, which is rarely another tool. If nobody is in charge of AI, start there. If AI's work isn't checked or measured, people won't trust it to run a workflow. Then pick one workflow and change how it runs. More answers in the [FAQ](https://spliceops.lrgfrmt.com/faq). ## Start from where you are Bring your result to a working session. If your people are new to AI, we'll start with the basics: briefing AI well, writing down the context it needs and organising work so it builds up. If you're ready for more, we'll pick a workflow and build a working prototype of it. Either way, it's one focused day on your real work. **Book a working session** → /book A paid day, credited in full if you go on to work with us.
